MySpace is an online community. It's become quite popular and a lot people spend a lot of their there. You can talk with people you know, make new friends, discover new bands, various fun stuff. They're freaking out because now they have nothing to do online. It's probably hard to imagine people freaking out because a website isn't working if you don't have MySpace or something similar to it.
