Is there a Japanese nickname for a comic book fanatic?

Manga Otaku is right, the word 'otaku' itself only refers to someone who's a fanatic about something. However, usage 'otaku' can be a bit offensive (less so now than it used to be) in use however, so if you're trying to compliment someone, just use the word 'fuan' (Japanese pronounciation of the word 'fan').
