As a high school chemistry teacher, I have noticed that most students do not like science. I think they have been ingrained with the idea that science is really hard from their elementary days. They had the fascination of science beaten out of them by curricula that discourages the discovery approach to learning science and instead have a curriculum that forces theory and facts down students' throats. In addition, there is a social stigma associated with science...people who are into science are nerds, geeks or worse, and our culture does not value science for sciences' sake. We glorify other things, like sports, acting or looks, and science belongs in the back room where the crazy people hover over bubbling beakers as they hatch their evil plans to dominate the world. Until we emulate cultures like those in Japan, China and most of the rest of the world, we will not place a value on science, parents will not encourage their kids to go into it , and the curriculum will not be changed to bring back the wonder that science is supposed to evoke in fertile young minds.

As a student I find science very interesting and enjoy the various subjects. Also, as a student I hate the hard work the subjects require for the understanding of the concepts of each of the subjects. Ultimately, if one wishes to pursue any type of science subject they must be prepared to accept the challenges each subject poses. To succeed you MUST put the time in to understand the science and its complexity, and that is what sucks the most.

I don't like science either. It has too many equations to balance and it's confusing sometimes. The only thing I like are the laboratory experiments.

i don't like science because it is confusing and some teachers expect us to learn it instantly and don't teach it or go over it well enough for most people to understand what we're supposed to be learning.
