i have been having knee problems lately. i work out a lot and it started at the beginning of the summer while playing basketball. it just recently started hurting again except a lot more. there was never a sudden injury, it just started hurting. it is painful on the inner side of my right knee. i can sometimes feel it "grinding" and it pops whenever i use it. i have been icing it 2 times a day this week but i can not tell any difference. i have no history of knee pain ever. i am only 15 so take that into consideration for what you think it might be. my guess is that i may have torn cartilage, because of the grinding. It is also painful to the touch on the inner side right between the kneecap and thebone, in that dip. when i walk my knee will sometimes "lock up" and my knee will jerk. right now not doing anything, sitting here typing this it hurts. if anyone has an idea of what i should do please tell me, or what the doctor might say. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Sounds like torn cartilage to me. You should see an Othopedic doctor to make sure. You could have damage to one of your ligaments. The doctor can tell you exactly what is wrong and they can help you manage the pain. It might require surgery depending on how severe the injury is!

It sounds as if you have just described all the symptoms to my story of knee problems. My knee problems started 10 years ago during school and when i went to the doctor about the crunching and popping they sent me for a scan and MRI but could see no actual problems. After a couple of injections into the knee they didn't seem to know what else to try...So they blamed my feet because i have high arches, they gave me some inserts and a few physio exercises. It worked for a while but the problem kept coming back and the crunching never went away.
So i went to see another doctor who refered me to a specialist who sent me to another pyhsiotherapist. This physio saw that i was double jointed and was having knee problems because my joints were unstable. A few exercises and accupunture sessions later they seemed to improve a lot.

I would recommend to you that during exercise wear a knee support to help feel stronger. Also pilates is a good exercise for stretching and strengthening the muscles and ligaments around the joints.

Good luck, i really can sympathise because i know exactly what you are going through!

i have almost the same problem .... i have always had prob..with my knees ...
this is what i did...
i got a brace the one that slips on ....it has springs in the side of it to give you more control and to keep the cap from moving over... it might hurt for a little while but i got use to it.... also the ice never helped my leg it was just a waist of time...well..it kinda seemed to me that it made it hurt worse cause it would be numb to the touch...
one more thing..
I'm in flag core and we sprang our wrists and ankle sometimes and we get the trainer for the football and the baseball to wrap them he uses a special material they wrap knees too you said that you were 15 so i don't know if you have a trainer and i don't know if you team supports one but if you live in the city I'm sure that you can go to a fitness gym....the kind with trainers... and I'm sure that they will tell you where to go to get the wrap and show you how to do the wrap...
sry if I'm not much help but maby this will help a little...
hope u fell better soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I have the exact same problem. Its some sort of crepitis and you should go to a good physical therapist for it, if they know what they are doing unlike the one I went to the first time is should be cleared up in about 3 weeks. At least that is what the specialist said. So go to the doctor and get a good therapist and just wait for the pain to go away. Good Luck I hope you have better luck than me!
