it sucks.
but that could be just me.
its just like every old slasher type movie.
weird music.
not freaky costumes.
predictible.
no real plot besides killing a bunch of people.
and its not very graphic at all... i mean, if it doesnt have a plot it at least should be graphic to make up for it.
and by the way, i hope your talking about the movie..
if not..
the actual day of halloween... well thats freaking awesome.

It's an excellent horror film, and one of the true masterpieces of the genre. With its almost blood-free frights, gutsy heroine, and peerless score, Halloween became the gold standard for the late 1970s-1980s teen slasher cycle (it's often considered a cliche because people don't realize that it essentially invented the slasher flick).
Taking full advantage of the widescreen frame (and offscreen space), John Carpenter builds tension through the constant suggestion that something terrible lurks just out of Laurie's and the audience's view, whether it's behind a bush or in a passing car. Carpenter also shifts to the killer's point of view, leaving the audience with only the sight of the unaware victim and the sound of Michael's breathing.
Evoking Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho and Vertigo, as well as Howard Hawks's original The Thing, Carpenter and co-writer/producer Debra Hill render Myers an inhuman force that paradoxically points up the psycho-sexual anxieties under the surface of small-town life, especially in the wake of the late '60s-early '70s sexual revolution.

I used to love Halloween but as I am getting older I am growing out of it. I have a five year old daughter and I try to keep the tradition going. It can be lots of fun if you get into the spirit. Pranks and bobbing and lots of candy. What else can you ask for? I think Halloween is great.

Halloween was ORINALLY devoted from All Hallows Eve. In which some people said that evil spirts came back from the dead. Now days its just a day for kids to dress up like someone they arent and get free candy.

Love it! Kiddies in creative costumes (the best are homemade!) Fresh air, all that walking, exploring our community! All the candy to trade and share! Then we light sparklers, order pizza and watch scary movies!
It's a low stress holiday, unlike Thanksgiving or Christmas.
But while I agree with the school's decision to encourage non-violent costumes, there's always some killjoy who says Halloween is satanic or evil.
It isn't.
It is a time to acknowledge that death is a part of life and a time to pray for the ones who have gone before us.
It is a celebration. Dressing up to express a part of ourselves that exists perhaps only in dreams.
It is about community. People decorating their houses and escorting their children to their neighbor's houses.
It is about children (and sometimes grown-ups) confronting their fears.
It is about tradition. Trick or treating is only in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and England.
But, most importantly, it is about candy. And the precious sweetness of life.

it is a very wonderful, magical time that allows grownups to feel like kids and kids to test out parts of their personality. It's a time for parents and kids to really play together, building the costume, planning the route, walking in the beautiful autumn.
it's a chance to be outside on a fall night with all your neighbors. it's a chance for the artists to decorate their yards without red and green. in our last neighborhood, it was the occasion of a wonderful block party. we even resisted the efforts of those fundies to use 9/11 as an excuse not to have halloween - of all years, so odd.
it's a time some people think is wrong to celebrate because of its pagan ties, and yet these very same people use all the pagan accoutrements of christmas, like the tree, decorations, feasts, candles, etc (well, not JW, they eschew it all) and of easter, like the bunny, the eggs, hunting outside for signs of spring...

It's fun for the younger kids, but once your in Jr High, your a bit too old for it, or at least trick or treating. But it's just a fun holiday, nothing satanistic or evil.
