The truth is if something really happened, the story would have been leaked long ago. Look at how many current government secrets have been leaked. Do you really think they could keep this secret for so long? (Actually it was supposed to have happened in 1947, not in the 70s.)

There are a lot of liars out there, that is for sure. Area 51 is a top secret Air Force Installation for creating and testing cutting edge weaponry and air craft. It is guarded tightly and despite cameras, hidden or otherwise, or disgruntled ex-employees, it is off limits to civilians. You have to understand the intelligence mind set. If a myth serves their purposes, they will not only allow it to flow, but help it to flow. And the myth has flowed big time. A lot of people want that myth to be true. Santa Clause was one myth that took a long time to wear off, didn't it. Looks like Aliens at Rosswell will take a bit longer.

yeah.... ok, I'll tell you, but this has to stay between you and me. Back in 1972, I'd just gotten back from Vietnam, but I was still and active duty marine. Anyways, I was cruising through the Mojave on some R.R. (rest and recovery for you youngsters out there), when one night, while I was laying up my feet by my camp fire, I saw a great flashing light and a great rushing noise followed by an explosion. I grabbed my .20 gauge, and drove over to see what happened. Well, I didn't believe my own eyes. There were two great green aliens lying on the ground. It looked like they had just sat down to eat when their craft crashed. I guarded that crash site for close to eight hours until the proper authorities arrived. The weird thing was I never got any sort of confirmation of the great service I had done for this nation and world, by guarding the dying extra-terrestials. I am a decorated Vietnam War veteran and yet they insist I am mad. Well I am mad, for having been shoved aside after sacrficing so much for my country.

An alien spaceship was supposed to have crash-landed near Roswell, but not in the 1970s; it was July, 1947. That's a big difference.

And, shame on you, if you had been researching this for 3 years, you should have been able to recite this date in your sleep!

Anyway, it is probably all made up; Roswell is a base for testing jet aircraft, and people have been seeing perfectly normal things and imagining that they were somethng else for generations.

And yet...how I wish it HAD been aliens...how exciting that would be!

There was no aliens or UFO. It was secret high-altitude weather
balloon to test for radiation from Soviet Russia atomic bomb tests
that crashed in the desert near Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.

Congratulations. You found out more here in a few minutes than you did in three years of research. Where do you do your research? I'll try to avoid it.
Isn't this a wonderful website?
