im not religious or anything but there's still no proof that God doesnt exist. It seems the Government still like to refer to God because that makes them automatically moral and just. A Government influenced by God is more appealing to people than a Government influenced by wealthy individuals (which is the reality)

Religion does not run our government. It was a part of the lives of the founders and a huge percentage of the citizens of this country still follow many organized religions. So it will obviously be a factor in many decisions that are made.
I am atheist and it makes me laugh when other (so-called)atheists try to tell everyone else what they can and can't do.
A note to atheists: STOP TRYING TO TELL PEOPLE THAT THEY CAN'T BELIEVE WHATEVER THEY WANT!
Be content to explain to anyone that asks, why you don't believe in their god for the same reasons they don't believe in Osiris or Zeus or any of the several hundred thousand other gods that have been invented in the mind of man. Eventually, everything will take care of itself in the marketplace of ideas. Until then, we are the minority and it just makes religious folks mad.
We should be happy that Christianity is not a religion of cutting people's heads off (like Islam).

Because lots of people believe in God.
While that's not inherently a bad thing, many of them believe that their religious definitions are the only valid ones and that everyone should have the same beliefs as they do.
And if they can't actually convert everyone to their religion, the next best thing is to get the government to enact laws that are effectively the same as the religious dogma, thus imposing their religious views on everyone.
That's the wonder of democracy -- might-makes-right majority rule. And it works especially well in a democratic republic like the US, since once the elected officials have tricked people into voting for them, they can do almost anything they want and still get reelected.

Its not so much religion as the values that christianity has. I'm not a very good christian, but I try to live my life by those values. I don't think anyone can argue with that. Some people believe there is a higher power and thank it for their success. Open up your mind a little and look at the other side too.

Did you say sir when you asked that?
Or by the grace of god?
Religion doesn't run our Govt. If it did you would have to wear a hat in public, or a dress, or a bourka.
But there is a reason to have "in God we trust" on our coins.... because people make mistakes so we have to trust in Someone with a little bit more intelligence than our science or philosophy teacher. Or the preacher, or the politician.

were u man made? was the universe man-made? no u came about because of the miracle that is life, and u exist in a universe that is too huge and amazing for us to explain, no-one can explain how life or the universe came about, even now, the closest anyone has come is to say that god created it, and god doesnt have to be a man in the sky, it could be a force or something that humans cant even comprehend

Religion doesn't run our government. But it is a big part of our country....it was founded on Christian principles. Why do you think that belief in God is uncivilized? It's your opinion that the nation is man made...

Our country was built on Christian Values, and that will never go out of style. The Government is not run by religion. There is no Government sponsored religion. So I believe your thinking is WRONG, your arrogance is only exceeded by your ignorance.

well because the majority of the world believe that there is one "God" and we are a free nation bringin people from all nationalities and beliefs. And the fact that our forefathers believed the same thing. It's not about religion. It's about belief. and i say there is nothing wrong with that.
