GABA is a neurotransmitter used by the neurons in our body. GABA allows the inflow of Chlorid to the neuron, which basically stops the impulse from the other neuron. Benzodiazepin (tranquillisers) is a drug which stimulates these receptors for GABA, and when stimulated "stops" other neurotransmitters as dopamine, noradrenalin, serotonin, acetylcholin etc, which has more an effect of arousal.
So in general you could say that GABA is the stop button, which the body needs. In muscles for example GABA would inhibit the contraction, where acetylcholin would contract the muscle.
But do consult your doctor, if your are thinkin about taking any kind of prescribed medicine. Never ever do it without talking with a professional!

First, gaba is illegal to sell in this country. So buy it on the Internet from America.
Second, it shouldn't be. Its a natural amino-acid produced by the body itself. Chemically it is produced from a member of the bean family, so it is a natural organic vegetarian product.
Biologically it appears to be a precursor to a brain chemical called serotonin.
Taking gaba before you go to bed, in plenty of water, on an empty stomach will:-
1 make you sleep heavily and wake refreshed
2 lift your mood very noticeably
3 depending on the dose (half a gram = small, ten grams = large) it may cause the body to release growth hormone.
4 lastly because of its neurological action it can help with with trauma-induced anxiety.
I took gaba for years. It helped me deal with railway suicides, shift work, body building etc.
