There is no such thing as a European American. Sorry.

There is African-American, Hispanic and White.

There is no Haitian-American, Italian-American, Irish-American, Nigerian-American, et cetera....

"African American" exists because some people don't want to be called black. It's officially recognized as by the US government; which no longer uses the term "black" to identify people. All the others are just made up and with the exception of Mexican-American (which we need to distinguish ourselves from those actually born in Mexico)...sound so silly.
