That's a very interesting point. As I understand history, the creation of Israeli post-WW2 was driven more by the modern nationalistic tendencies of creating a country, than by the traditional religious/ethnic motivations of a spiritual homeland for all Jews. "Zionism" is thus classified into different types, depending on whether it's religion/spritual-based or nationalism/preservation is Israel. The ones in the latter category do same to make the news more often...

The crisis in the Middle East is always on media nowadays. Jews, Israel and Zionism are always the menu of the talks these days. Do not mind about negative perceptions but be yourself. Just do what is normal but be alert with your views. Respect other nationalities so that you will also command respect.

Do some research and find out some stuff. Doesn't make them brutish to protect their people from terrorism, I know Israelis who live in fear every day because of Palestinian terrorism and threats. If you don't know the situation, best you not open your mouth.
