The only real DaVinci code is that he did write all of his notes backwards.
It is true that there are cults and circles of people that believe that Jesus was married.
It is true that the Vatican keeps a vault that is filled with ancient texts that many people are not able to read. The Catholic Church was in fact responsible for taking the many ancient gospels and letters written by the early Christians, prophets, apostles, etc. and putting together the Bible, AND there were many things that weren't included. These other Christian texts are called canonical texts and are found in the library at the Vatican. You can believe what you want to believe about Christ. I, personally, am not going to believe something just because some cult says it is possible. There is no evidence that I have ever heard of to make it persuade me.

Also, here's another interesting tidbit. There was already a book that was written in the 80's that discussed this whole theory. The authors have already filed a lawsuit against Dan brown's publishing company for plagiarism. Isn't that funny? Also, this book is also fiction. If there were actual evidence to prove this, there would be a great non-fiction book about it, that would probably be sold right on the shelf next to the Bible.

The Da Vinci Code is just a story!
It is just somebody's theory and idea's of what if?
Granted there is some bull and there is some truth in it as well!
It is really no different than the Bible.......
Honestly the Bible has been passed down and re-written so many times that I think most of it is crap and the truth is in there somewhere!
Just enjoy the movie for what it is........entertainment!
Keep an open mind in everything you read and watch.........
Come up with your own opinion on your own!

You should have read the book first. Actually if you do decide to read the book, you'll need to read "Angels and Demons" first. Why? Angels and Demons is the prequel to Da Vinci Code. But to answer your question, no. It's a work of fiction. Pure and simple. Don't buy into the hype!

The book has a section explaining that it is a work of fiction, but the buildings, organizations and works of art are all real. It is fiction, but I do find some of the concepts to be interesting. It's very well written.

The book is FICTION!

The author took random facts, odd bits of trivia, and rumor as well made some stuff up. He then took some fringe ideas that were circulating for twenty years or so (and got sued over them in the UK). He then wrote a really good story.

What makes people think this is real?!

the da vinci code is a work of fiction, it does however contain many theories about Jesus and his life that aren't new most of these ideas developed at the same time the bible was being written , a couple of centuries after Jesus's death. read holy blood holy grail for more info, also study the gnostic texts, they believe they are descended from Jesus and are the only group to still speak Aramaic (jesus's language) as their primary tongue.

It's a great fictional story based on many complicated and hard-to-prove beliefs and historic events. But even Dan Brown admits it's a work of fiction.

No, the Da Vinci Code is completely untrue...some people may believe it....like Dan Brown-but that is his own made up religion!

From what I know from my friends whom I have Sunday morning coffee with, I own the book, but don't really feel the need to read it. But, many of the men in my coffee group, are religious and rest-assured me that the book is all fiction, just like 'Dogma.'
