You need a air pump going into the water.

Check online or go to a pet store. They have air pumps or air stones there cheap.

Goldfish need a minimum of 10 gallons PER baby/juvenile fat fancy goldfish, and a minimum of 20 gallons PER baby/juvenile commet/common/shubunkin goldfish. Adults need a minimum of 50 gallons PER goldfish. Goldfish excrete ALOT of ammonia and need heavy filtration.

You claim to love this fish, yet you are torturing it to death by keeping it in a bowl. Find the fish a new home, return it to the petstore or find someone with a pond and DONOT get another goldfish.
It is gasping for air because it is SUFFOCATING. Goldfish have primitive gills and require a high amount of dissolved oxygen in the water. That can only be acclomplished in a large rectangular tank with heavy filtration and air stones.
The larger the tank, the more surface area there is to allow more gas exchange. You cannot get that in a bowl, plus fantail goldfish grow to be 10-12 inches. They DONOT grow to the size of the container they are kept in. They also have a 20-30 year lifespan, having him only live a week to a month in a horrible bowl is animal cruelty.

The only fish that can survive in a bowl is a single male betta. But honestly, bowls are for candy or flowers, NOT fish.
There is a difference between surviving and actualy thriving. Bettas thrive in filtered and heated tanks of atleast 5 gallons.

you will need a bigger tank. my goldfish fantails are over 9 inches each and live in a 90 gallon.

You goldfish doesn't have enough oxygen., probably b/c you have filter or air pump.

which will be the down fall of any fish that isn't a labrith fish.

you need to get it air quick if you don't have a pump running for it get one or find something that can make bubbles then let some water clean water sit out for at least 24 hours and a cup of water and do the same. Hopefully your fish make it the 24 hours if so take the fish put him in the cup of water that you had sitting for 24 hours then clean your tank no soap put the water a gallon just of it in the tank another thing you can do is go buy a gallon of drinking water put that in it and let it set for 4 hours you need it to reach the temperature you have the fish in for that room and do the same as above. I hope this works and good luck.

what made you think a goldfish can live in a bowl???? Your fish is dying, there is no air circulation in a bowl. The fish needs to be in nothing smaller than a 10 gallon tank per fish!!!!!!!

Did you treat the water or just use plain tap water? You can't use regular tap water, depending on where you live and what they put in the tap water you will need to neutralize it with something. Your local pet store will tell you exactly what you need. If you can't afford that right now at fill the bowl with some purified bottled water.
Temperature is also important, the water shouldn't feel hot or cold to touch.
