I was given this HP 6355 to fix up for my daughter. It is an older machine & had two very small hard drives..one 1 GB & the other 1.4 GB..The computer had Windows 98 on it & I bought the Windows XP upgrade. I installed it & it worked fine, then it told me one of the hard drives was bad & to replace it. I had just recently bought a new hard drive for my own computer so I put my old one in the HP..As soon as I did that I turned it on & it told me that no operating system could be found...I put the Windows XP cd in & then it said it was checking my hardware configuration, then it went straight to an error code..it said file\i386\biosinfo.inf could not be loaded error code 27136 press any key to exit..I tried pressing a key & it does nothing.. thats it, it does not go past there. I do not know what to do...Please any help..

press ctrl, atl and detete at the same time. If that doesn't restart or says system busy, click restart now. If that doesn't work, hold down off button on compter until it shuts off - may take a while. wait 10 - 15 seconds or more. Turn back on. It should go into scan disk mode. After scan disk completes, it should open windows.
If that doesn't work you drive from the other computer may be incompatible and will need to have its driver found by the ICC# on it. Try www:driverguide.com

both of the hard disks in the machine now are probably set to master, or you took out the drive with the operating system.

first make sure the drives are installed properly.
second make sure you have an OS loaded and that its boot files are intact.

format the HD first before installing OS.
