They wear several layers of clothing, usually white under the black. The advantage of black is that it hides stains real well. If you are as poor as many of these women are then that is necessary feature. Remember, that in most Moslem societies the women have to rely totally on the men for support, they can't even work. When you make $20 or less a month a new suit of clothing can be very expensive, and you want what you have to last. Look at the richer Arab countries like Saudi Arabia were they wear brighter and lighter clothing, because they can afford to replace it.

Its part of their faith. Its about not wanting to appear promiscuous and obviously the men are randy buggers

true but it also is very slimming and women would rather be sweating to death and look slim than feel cool and fat lol
