FYI: I want to know your in depth thoughts about these questions, not just what your feelings are about the book(s), even though that's important. I like long answers if they're interesting.

Please don't criticize my questions. I chose the words for effect, so I wouldn't be too revealing to those of you who don't get into Harry Potter (to give ya'll some answers.)

I happen to love the Harry Potter series so I will answer your questions as fully as possible. I thought the beginning of the first book was intriguing enough to make me push faster into the series, which considering I felt rather silly reading a "children's book" speaks highly of JK's talent. The plot of the second book was surprising, I really found myself pushing to find out who the "heir of Slytherin" was and also was shocked to find who the pawn was. The third book happened to be my favorite of the series. I loved that Harry finally met people who were truly connected to his parents. Learning who was honestly behind his parents' murder was a great break in the mystery and seeing how powerful Harry could be if he put his mind and talent to it (the Patronus charm) was a nice way to break into what he will be forced to do later on. The Tri Wizard Tournament was surely a high point for the younger and male readers of the story. All that action, not to mention the angst of finding yourself at odds with your best friend. All in all the fourth book acted as the doorway to bringing Voldemort back and to showing that Harry really is more than just "the Boy Who Lived". The tournament also helped in showing how much Harry needs his friends. The fifth book showed the inside of the Order, letting the younger set of wizards and witches see that there was a side other than the darkness. The fates of "certain people" was needed, Harry can't have too many crutches to lean on, and while losing Sirius was rather hard on readers as well as on characters, it was one of those losses that will add to the story as a whole *yes I cried*. Also the fifth book let us in on the reason that Voldemort went after the Potters, and why Neville's parents were tortured. The sixth book, I'll admit to hating the first read through. I felt that JK was taking the easy way out, making Snape completely evil and killing Dumbledore the way she did. Now, however, I realize that it was just showing that there is never really a clear cut good or evil, we are in fact a muddling of the two. It's also showing that the fight against "evil" isn't going to be simple and the division of friend versus foe won't be clearcut either. My predictions for the seventh book are that Harry will defeat Voldemort *how could it end any other way*, there will be the death of someone very close to Harry *possibly Hermione, Ron, Ginny or Neville*, I think that Snape's true loyalties will be shown *I don't think he's blantantly evil*. I think, however, the ending won't be what we want it to be, there's too much left unsaid to be fulfilled in one book.

I love the first six books, and expect to love the seventh. But I suppose you want more detail than that.
1. Sorcerer's Stone: I liked the whole thing of how Harry finds out who he is, but I thought the persistence of Uncle Vernon in trying to get away from the owl post was a bit extreme. Notice that in the movie they cut that short.
2. The plot of Chamber of Secrets was good; I had no complaints. That is, it was a surprise to me as each element was revealed, which is much of what such a story is supposed to do. If you guess too easily, it's no fun. I figured out about Ginny a little early, because of the time when she tried to talk to Harry, but the twins interrupted. I guessed what she was going to say, and that she was under some kind of curse.
3. The Prisoner of Azkaban was especially good because throughout most of the story, Sirius Black is assumed to be a villain. I love it when assumptions are proved false!
4. The Triwizard Tournament got a little tiresome in some ways; but it was better in the book than in the movie. The movie made the maze seem tame until they got to the end and found the cup. In the book, lots of things happened they didn't try to show in the movie.
5. Which "certain people" do you mean? I liked that Neville and Luna were so involved; we need a broader base of characters than always Harry, Ron & Hermione.
6. The Horcrux thing is very confusing, but I think it is probably supposed to be. We will get more on that in book seven. I want to know more about the new Minister of Magic, too. And I want to know the truth about Snape and about that weasel, Malfoy.
7. I think there will be three engagements, or maybe even marriages: Harry and Ginny, Ron & Hermione, Neville & Luna. I also think we will have important scenes where Harry consults with Dumbledore's portrait in the Headmistress's office. And of course, who the replacement for McGonagal as head of Griffindor house will be significant, as will, predictibly, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Perhaps one and the same? (I hope it's Kingsley Shacklebolt; he's cool!)

1st book - it was really interesting. we were intorduced to this whole new world where anything goes and everything is seemingly possible. there was a tinge of mystery which added spice to the whole thing.
2nd book - this was really good too. great plot introducing us to palpable evil, the kind that can really harm you. and it left an opening for more draamtic plots.
3rd book - the best harry potter book in my opinion. great plot, wonderful characters, interesting magical artifacts, butterbeer! it was extremely wonderful and the ending was totally unexpected. again, it left room for book 4 to fully develop.
4th book - this was a very good move by rowling, to introduce different cultures from the magical community, the quidditch world cup and the triwizard tournament. it added a little zing to the whole series, instead of your usual danger at hogwarts. and this was the turning point when the much loved children's book became the ever popular adult fiction. oh yes, ad the yule ball where girl-boy issues were handled. hilarious.
5th book - the first death was experienced here. this is where the fight between good and evil became real. the first battle was fought here in the ministry of magic between the students and voldermort and his followers. very exciting. interesting facts about harry and others were also revealed which made the whole story more complete.
6th book - full fledged chaos. a clash between good and evil at hogwarts itself. fantastic plot. a whole lot of mystery which was irritating and made me rather impatient for the next book. this one was just a prelude to the last and final installment of the harry potter series.
7th book? - goodness this is a toughy, but i hope that dumbledore didnt actaully die and that harry will live. i hope that there will be no more deaths on the side of good. i cant wait for the seventh book!

1st book: the way Harry discovers that there is more to the world he lives in than what he has seen.
2nd book: Amazing allegory of what it means for faith to defeat evil.
http://www.digital-disciple.com/harry_potter_granger.htm
3rd book: The way Harry discovers that he is a powerful wizard, and produces the patronus. Entire book is great.
4th: What a great idea. The tournament is just one of those things that proves that Rowling is a literary genius.
5th: Death of loved ones is such a real thing that people have to deal with, and Rowling does this well.
6th: Good will prevail! This books makes us question assumptions about what is good and evil.
7th: Love conquers all. Someone, an incredible act of love will be the final demise of Lord Voldemort. I predict this act will involve Harry's death. But obviously, not everyone agress with me.

First book - I enjoyed the beginning. I think it is actually one of the few times JKR has given us info outside of Harry's mental world and I like that. Of course, it just makes it more suspenseful...
Second book - Not my favorite. The plot is pretty good though, very suspenseful, especially the Ginny thing. I like how it ties into book 6.
Third book - Loved it! I'm crazy about POA!
Fourth book - It was OK, but I'm not really into sports so I didn't like it that much.
Fifth book - NO!!!!!!! It was totally uncalled for and *certain people* did not have to die if not for Harry's stupidity... sorry, I really hated Harry in that book.
Sixth book - I think it's very realistic. I think she did a great job with the rivalry in this one.
Seventh book - I think Harry's scar is a Horcrux. Harry and Voldie will both die.

I've crammed all of these books into my brain over the past few months, and would love to take the time to answer these questions, however current company is rather annoyed with me for dawdling on the computer.
However, in response to one's previous comment about getting a life?
Who's sitting indoors, on the computer, reading questions about Harry Potter in the first place?
Perhaps instead of making snotty remarks you could go do something constructive, like read a book.

1st book: i had to read a couple chapters in to get used to it...it was kinda boring in the beginning but i read like 3-4 chapters and i was hooked
2nd book:i thought that the plot was really cool finding stuff out from the chamber of secrets....i liked it
3rd book: the third book for me was kinda crepp i was always reading it atnight and found it creepy
4th book:the wizard tornament was really exciting you know.... i mean u just had to find out what happends next thats what had me hooked
5th book: some of the fates i didnt like and some of the fates i did but i mean thats how J.K Rowling writes her books...
6th book:i thought it was unfair b/c a certain person died and a certain person surprised us all in the end
7th book:i think that when dumbledore drank that potion he was already almost dead...so when snape did the curse it didnt have any effect on him..so dumbledore will be in the 7th book...

1st Book: Predictable and dull, one too many cliches, and a very dull start to the series.
2nd book: Confused and completely crappy.
3rd book: Much like the first two.
4th book: A waste of words.
5th book: For the better. Kill them all, please! And fast, before this thing gets any bigger.
6th book: Typical. Nothing special. I sort of fell asleep halfway through.
7th book: Will be even worse than the first ones, but will sell millions of copies. And heaven forbid Harry dies, because then the world will come crashing down and reality as we know it will begin to crumble. Pigs will fly! Fish will talk! Paris Hilton will be smart!
These are my thoughts. But not all of them. If I told you those, I would probably get reported.
And sorry to all the Harry-fans out there, but jeesh! I really hate those books, and this is simply my opinion.
