Yes... the physical phenomenon called Gravity binds all things in a matrix. You are all slaves of the others who program you from birth... science calls it conditioning.
Science is still trying to understand what causes gravity. People are still trying to avoid being conditioned...
Funny ha you don't even know why you are stuck to the planet or how to stop being conditioned!
Einstein thought it was a warp in space-time due to the matter in it however this has not been proven conclusively.
I can tell you how to stop being conditioned and see the matrix.
Great question!

Definitely.
The crux of the matrix is the different level of information available; the 'normal people' have little real info - made to live in a fake world - whereas the ones in the know control everything for their gain.
Most of us would agree that governments have 'state secrets'; these are pieces of information that can be critical but that are withheld from us; we can't even start to imagine what these can be. So to a certain degree, governments are the matrix.
However that is not where it stops. The information is not restricted to governments. Nowadays with the power of lobbies and 'big business', these are more likely to be controlling the information flow and making profits from it. The ties between 'big business' and government ar eslowly becoming more clear with the scandals of party financing, exchanging favours for financing... All this is not new.
Many years ago, there were very visible class/caste divides, nowadays, most of the time, the differences are not attributed to class/caste. Now that we are seeing the way the matrix holds us, it will just take a new form, or has it already?
The matrix has to keep upgrading itself, to keep us drones living in the make-believe world, and working for the matrix. But then again, as long as we still do its work, why would the matrix change.
How many of us have accepted this way of life, dominated by the matrix? How many of us believe there is a different way of life? It's not just information, it's what we do too.
So, to answer your question, yes there is a real life matrix, yes we are trapped in it, but most of us do not want to escape.

I think there is something similar which monitors the potentials of your thinking. Jose M R Delgado discovered telepathy, and your thoughts are decoded by HAARP Cray supercomputers, and people are mindcontrolled using the main beam that is interfaced with the ionisphere using the intelligence manned biotic. Cheryl Welsh set up C.A.H.R.A. in the United States. Elanor White wrote about it in the 36th edition of Specula. Electronic Dissolution Of Memory is in operation. See Harry V Martin and David Cauls Series 11 about the E.D.O.M.generator/transmitter and how it is small enough to hide on the body of a person. Look up Microchip/Mind Control and Cybernetics, believe me it is currently happening.

You would have to work out what the Matrix in the film actually 'symbolised.' It could be several things:
Capitalism
Falsely-created cultural assumptions
Negative thinking and belief systems
The corporate world and big business/industrial-military complex
The consumer society
Any kind of psychological dependencies (ie alcoholism)
Poverty
Societal 'roles'
Extremist religions
All of these things could keep our minds in balls and chains, and thus we would need to reprogramme them to set ourselves free. All of these things also exist in today's world.

Yes ,I think we are living in a matrix whose parameters control our happiness and emotions , especially in a country like America where you depend on various parameters to exist with so called happiness .
These matrices are set by powerful multi national business corps ,who decides how you should live .

i agree with some of the ideas
in the movie, but also feel we hav all created
the matrix ourselves--in the sense we're all one
in the spirit
so its not so sinister for me---we could eventually
evolve out of this primitiv matrix and into a new one

Of course. And you are leaving in it now. It is called american way of living, neocapitalism. The system has you working as its slave and makes you think you are free. But you are not. You have no other choice but to keep working for them to get things you don't need.

No, but you learn about matrices in math class, so matrices exist, though they are theoretical concepts.
