We have become a target of hate. I recall one time in Bosnia during the war, I was about 6. One Bosnian kid had a jacket with USA flag on it, it was small but very in your face. So, Serbian soldier ripped it off and made him to swallow it. Then he said that if they cought Clinton, they would cut of his genitals and make him swallow it too, since he love America so much. I can never forget that, it was so inhumane. In addition, I see that even today people show hate and disrespect toward America. It is very stupid and I am glad that most Americans are not doing that. We know better.

Which conservatives? there is purely a handful left, comrade, and they are no longer in Washington. i don't think of each and every person hates conservatives, because human beings haven't any theory what a real American conservative is. Goldwater, Buckley, and Reagan are all useless alongside with the Founders. What you spot now might want to be liberals combating liberals and State Capitalists combating State Capitalists. And it is gonna be relaxing to visual demonstrate unit from the camouflaged safe practices of the rock i'm hiding less than. i'm rooting for Trotsky this time, yet i imagine the Clintonistas will be effective. the outcome will be a similar, and man or woman liberty all over the realm will be curtailed with the intention to provide for the "body politic."

Well the - Whole - wold does not hate us or that's just too encompassing and too broad of a statement. Since the beginning of its formation America has stood for principles-honor
individual human rights, generosity and stood as being the champion of the oppressed BUT now seems hypocritical since it the torture and especially the degradation of Iraqi prisoners initially came to light. Then these abuses against the Geneva Convention became even more of an outrage when these degrading practices and even the murder of prisoners showed up in Afghanistan with secret places-out of the United States ,being established by the Government where contrary to what America preached and chastised other countries of doing were being done by Americans. This America losing face by killing civilians and torture of prisoners already began in Viet Nam-where the shiny image of America as the champion of human rights began to get tarnished. I remember myself being horrified and thinking Not Us-We Can't be for that is not what I want my country to stand for. So now America is being looked on as the biggest hypocrite and has lost a great deal of respect esp in Europe. Sad for this country and even sadder when I read ,hear of American saying its OK-for it never is to act inhumane to another human being for we are a nation under God.

haha, these answers are very telling of why alot of other countries have large numbers of America haters. Being an expatriot for a few years of my life I have talked to alot of people from a number of countries around the world.

A big part of this dislike comes from a large number of americans arogance and warped view of the rest of the world. Im not saying I am not guilty of this, but obviously living abroad has helped give me perpsective.
Just take a look, most of the answers so far say, "JEALOUSY!" and one guy even said these countries people are living in 'mud huts'. When you have Americans thinking that everyone just wants to be us and are just hopelessly poor countries relying on our charity its not hard to imagine why they would be pissed off. Thats the exact stereotype foreigners have of us, that we are arrogant and ignorant and in most cases its pretty true. Nobody likes to be looked down on, especially when some other countries have much richer histories and cultures. Because America is so rich and isolated location wise its comon for most Americans to not take much interest in whats going on in the rest of the world, as opposed to say europeans which live in close proximity of other countries and therefore take a much more vested interest in whats happening internationaly. A lot of Americans Ive talked to honestly think everywhere else is just striving to be like us and are totally unaware that alternative governments and economic methods exist that work increadably well and in some cases are more progressive than those in the US. I mean we dont even use metric, thats pretty archaic. (just an example) Obviously our governmnets foreign policy has a huge impact on the worlds view of us as well, but this is just on a regular citizen basis. I mean when your country acts against the vote of the established international comunity what can you expect.

My point is that if the average american were willing to have a more open mind and be interested in what other countries had to offer instead of just viewing them as a little mooch that is waiting for its next piece of free bread then you would find the common man would like us better.

You shouldn`t really have to ask the question....
The USD $, is all that matters......the USA consumes the earths reasourses at an alarming rate, polutes the envioment at an also alarming rate
OIL,....you need low cost oil, and lots of it, you take it, from every where you can, to keep this flow of oil to the USA, you keep governments in power, these leaders are not usually good for their country or peoples.
I`m in the oil industry and i see it every day...
but, it`s a real shame because...like every where America has good people !!!!!!!

The answer below is a good one, i`m a christian from the UK, and i agree, who runs the show...the jewish !!!

I think Americans keep generalizing people in other countries. Just because people in other countries hate America does not mean the whole country hates America; furthermore, people in charge of a country do not necessarily represent the people. Just because some fascist dictator hates America does not mean the people do....and if you want to know why those fascist dictators hate America, you might as well just ask them why they're fascist dictators...

lol

The whole world does not hate Americans. You are only buying into what the liberal media is telling us and that way it can all be blamed on Bush. If you choose to believe that the world hates American then why do they kill them self's getting over here legal are not. You need to watch Micheal Moore's movie again so you can keep buying into the lie that you ask about.

I guess if there weren't so many people for centuries putting their lives on the line to come to this country from all over the world, I would give the haters some consideration. Its their hearts that are carrying the hate and that hate is destroying and eating them alive not me.

There are so many factors at play in regards to your question. Most people do not hate Americans; they hate our foreign policy (or lack thereof). For example, the U.S. sells guns, tanks, bombs, etc. to other countries. Imagine you are a 6 year old living in a remote village in Central Asia (Middle East) when BOOM! Bombs rip through your town and kill your family, possibly maim you. You see a part of a bomb's shell that reads "U.S.A." Now, who are you going to be mad at? You're a small child-those three letters will be forever ingrained in your memory and you will come to hate the people responsible. It then is easy for a militant group in your country to brainwash you into seeing Americans as "evil" and that they must be "punished for their deeds."

Now, you could say, "well, the U.S. didn't kill his family, the country they sold the bombs to did." Wouldn't the U.S. also be partially responsible for the deaths?

Furthermore, imagine all you know about the U.S. comes from the t.v. and movies. In many parts of the world, Americans are portrayed as if they have everything: big homes, expensive cars, etc. We come off as extremely materialistic and greedy.

Lastly, it doesn't help us when our government decides to go against the United Nations and initiate war (Iraq). It makes us appear as if we think we are above the very laws put into effect after WWII.

Don't forget, too: our troops have been put into a very bad light due to the actions of a few "bad" soldiers: the most recent gang-raping and killing of a 14 year old Iraqi girl by 5 U.S. soldiers in Iraq (who also killed her parents and sibling) does not make us or "our mission to save Iraqis from the axis of evil" look too good.

Americans in general are good, honest people who are condemned at times because of our government's actions. Unfortunately, that's just how life is.

Well a lot has to do with religion really. Different points of view, American claiming to be the Police of the World, and things like that, people of other cultures don't like that, and seriously we should be minding our own business, it's really the leaders and those corrupt idiots who help put them there. The rest of the thinking people are ******. I wish stupidity would hurt.
