like when a landlord gives me a place to live would he or she have to check my credit before i can get a apartment.

Yes. Most of the time what is checked for with section 8 or hud housing is your criminal history. If you have been convicted of a felony you will not qualify. They shouldn't check your credit history. Also, each state has different guidelines for qualifying for section 8, or hud.

Apply anyway. Each management company for privately owned section 8 sets its own resident selection criteria. We allow up to 10 items of bad credit, but other companies may allow more. apply apply apply, there is no application fee and all they can say is that you don't qualify.
