Alright, I am going to answer this question and then someone else will likely copy what write and leave me with no points just like the countless other times. First, the most important thing to remember when increasing the grip size is to maintain the shape of the bevels. The bevels are those flat edges which give the handle its shape. Those are important because when you change grips going from a forehand to backhand you want the feel of the handle to lock into your next grip so the racket face will be correct at impact. You can't just put on overgrips till the grip size is how you like because overgrips will round out the handle edges and you will lose the feel of the bevels. The correct way is to get a heat shrink sleeve and use a heating element to shrink the sleeve onto the bare handle. Then place your replacement grip and overgrip on top of the increased size handle. You may also choose to use a leather replacement grip or a hard synthetic like the gamma high-tech replacement grip because they will lay flatter on the handle giving you more feel with the bevels, and a more secure grip.

Hold a racquet in your hand. If the grip is the correct size, the gap between your fingertips and the base of your thumb should be just large enough to place the index finger of the other hand in that gap. This is one method, anyway, to determine grip size. L-4 as I understand it, means 4 and 4/8 inches L-3 would be 4 and 3/8 inches. Personally, I use a 4 1/2 ( 4 4/8) or a 4 5/8 racquet.

That is 2 grip sizes. That is a big difference. Buy a new racquet with the correct grip size. If that is not an option then take it to a Pro shop where they can build it up with heat shrink sleeves.

The most professional way- Heat sleeves, which can be bought at any tennis shop. Each sleeve enlarges the grip by an 1/8th of an inch. Then the racquet just needs to be regripped and it's perfect. They can be cut off as well.

That's easy. Making the grip smaller---that's the hard one.
Use one of those round racquetball grips that just slide on. Then wrap your regular tennis grip over that.
That should do it.
But if that's not enough, try wrapping an extra-long tennis grip over the racquetball grip, but don't separate the grip strips as far apart as you normally would as you wrap.
In other words, wrap it closer so it builds up a bit.
You'll need an extra-long grip because you'll be using more material in a shorter space for the build-up.
Works for me! Good Luck!

Get a new grip and put a over grip on that. The new grip will be bigger and all that you would have to replace is the over grip which is much cheaper. I use tournagrip. it is the best. Your grip doesn't slip when you are playing.
