Alright so I'm at my grandmother's house...trying to fix her printer...and I'm really bad with printers...heh...

I'm running Windows XP.

It's a LexmarkX125 (I think it sucks) and I have the book and the installation CD...and I've followed it, several times. Thing is...whenever I go to Control Panel>>Printers and Faxes...it doesn't show up as being installed. I'd tried just to "Add a Printer" but when it searches for one, it doesn't find one. Yes, the cables are all connected...usb and power.

I have no idea what to do...if anyone has any suggestions I'll be glad to hear them.

Thanks.

Also, IMing me through yahoo messenger is also an option to just explain directly.

I've seen\ heard of this problem before, and not just with Lexmark printers....

According to Lexmark try this:

1 Click Start Control
Panel Printers and
Other Hardware
Printers and Faxes.
2 Click the Ports tab.
3 From the list of ports,
select the USB
printer port.
If the USB port is not
listed, uninstall and
then reinstall the
printer software. For
help, see page 25.
4 Click Apply.
5 Click OK.

Since you stated you've done all the normal things, like checking that cables are plugged in, etc...

Also, as mentioned, I would go to Lexmarks's site and download and install the latest drivers available...

you can try this..i don't know whether it will work or not.

printers & faxes > add a printer > local printer (uncheck auto detect) > use port USB001 or USB002 > have disk

then it will ask for the location of the driver...select the CD rom...go to the directory called either driver or english...under that you should have a folder for windows XP...select that one...

hope it works
