Please please please do not buy a goldfish if all you can get is a 1g bowl!!!!! Goldfish require 20g for the first one and then 10g per additional fish.
A 1g is pure torture to the poor baby. Not only is it not enough space for it to swim around in, but it does not have the filter goldies require (dirty dirty fish that also produce a lot of ammonia), but there isn't enough surface area for them to properly breathe.
Save the money and invest in at least a 30g.

it'll out grow it in about a year , that is if he makes it that long , because goldfish are the dirtiest fish b/c of the amount of food they can consume and ever notice they crap 5 minutes after they eat its b/c they have a short digestive track.you'll NEED to keep changing the water every week sometimes 2 times a week.change 1/2 or more. if u dont have a filter or air pump you may need to change it more.if it looks dirty it is

a single gold fish can live for a very long time in a goldfish bowl as long as you keep the water clean and feed it regularly. If you put more than one fish in though, they will use up all of the oxygen in the water and become sickly. Best to keep him alone till you can afford a larger tank.
Good luck and enjoy!
Jazz
P.S. the oldest goldfish known to have died in captivity was 43 years old!

well gold fish are realy hard to kill they don't require much other than just a lil food. they are quite nasty though so i recomend(spelling) that you keep you tank clean and don't put but maybe 2 at a time in that small of a tank. if you decide you want different fish then you need to have a bigger tank and one with a filter and heater. if you have more questions just ask and i may be able to help. i have fish of my own and have had for a long time. and do know a lil about them.

not every long, as you have no filter and no air pump.
goldfish should never be place in anything smaller than a 55 and still they will out grow this tank.
goldfish are messy and a 1 gallon bowl doesn't take very long to get very toxic water for fish. so water changes every 4 days is a must and you realy need a bigger tan and filter..

not very long. Fish need air circulation and goldfish are VERY dirty. Get a betta! They are beautiful and you can find some that are unique in color. Its cruel to put gold fish or any fish in a bowl.

The life span of a goldfish can be 20 or so years.. BUT.. I strongly recommend that you not keep the goldfish in a ONE GALLON bowl.. that is NOT fair to the fish...

Anywhere between a few hours, to a few tortured horrible painful weeks. Weeks, unlike the decades that fish living in a proper aquarium live for. Either save up, or dont keep fish at all

fantail goldfish probably have a life span of a few months, up to a year or so............... they are very pretty fish,
if you enjoy him a lot and keep his bowl clean and hes well fed you should have him for some time to come, remember they arent very expensive and if you safe up some of your allowance you can buy new ones when you need to.........i had turtles and gold fish and guppies and guinea pigs when i was a kid, and the guinea pigs were the most fun..............have fun SHARON from oHIo.....
