Who here is afraid of spiders? Why?

I must admit, they are one of my biggest phobias....I can't even look at one on TV without my heart racing and having to look away...Yuck.

I HATE SPIDERS. I have a fear of them too. I seriously cannot stand them.

Even the little house spiders, I kill them anytime I see one. Once I had to sleep in another room because there was like 3 on the ceiling. It really bothers me. I think it's the legs, definantly the legs. There body is so small but the legs are huge.

If it wasn't for the legs to me they would be just another insect like an ant or something. I know they are really no harm but I still hate them. Even the huge nasty looking ones they have in Africa or Australia are no harm (unless you provoke them).

Even if I start thinking about spiders I start feeling all weird (like now!!). If I feel something (usually a twitch in my arm or something) I jolt and start swapping my arm incase it was a Spider. Another person mentioned the bed check ... yes I do that every night as well.

I've started getting spider kill spray. I spray it all around the house, and base boards and then I go out for the day while the fumes settle. It really does work but then you see em dead on the floor which gross, but better than alive I suppose.

I've never been the same after I heard the story of the man who bit into an apple and got bitten by a venmous black widow, which is the smallet venmous spider in the world. See article:

I am afraid of spiders because when I was a child I was sick with a fever. I dreamed that spiders were crawling on me. When I woke up, there really was a black spider in my bed. Every time I am sick, even yet today, I still have dreams about spiders. I am trying to overcome my fear, but the thought of touching a spider scares me.

The only thing you have to do with a spider if u don't like it, take a magazine, (it also works with the newspaper, and any kind of shoe. Don't try heels) wrap it up till it's hard and slap the spider. It works for me.

I feel the exact same way as YOU, except for me, it's SNAKES! I'm terrified of them!

I actually am okay with spiders and thought having a trantula would be cools! But I'd never really get one.

Me too I hate spiders but thats the very definiton of a phobia: an unfounded and unexplainable fear.

oh my i HATE spiders i cant watch them on TV either i once moved out of a house because i found one of those great big ones in the front room

I don't mind killing them, but I once found a huge spider in my bed when I was in college. Every night since, I have done a "bed check" just in case.

I'm deathly afraid, always have been. I'm the same way I can't look at them on TV either. I can't even kill them I have to have someone else do it.

i hate spiders! i hate worms, i hate bugs i hate all that kind of stuff. I guess im afriad of them because I know that some spiders are poisonous and they look so disgusting! gross!
