Russia and China are not allies for the meantime because they have differences in the application of socialism/communism. Nevertheless, they could unite for purposes of suppressing another superpower and it will be a critical alliance that could tilt the peace of the world.

Russia and China are training their armies together as we speak and they have been for well over the past year or so. It's a scary thought isn't it? With China's booming economy and population they out number the U.S. population nine to one. Now they they join forces with Russia,a once dominant world power which in my opinion is a sleeping giant. All Russia needs is a little, well alot of economical support and that is China. And all china needs is military guidance from a once great military super power, combine them and you have just created the worlds greatest tag team ever. I could go on forever, but I think I will leave it at that, great question by the way!

Individually China presents a larger threat to the US as of right now than Russia. United, they would present a bloc with enough buying power to ruin the US economy and eventually take over the world.

They have hopefully learned from history that divided they can be weakened but united they are unstopable. In todays day in age it means..money. They both want to be respected and have their opinions valued and the best way to achieve this is economically. Yes militarily they are progressing and helping eachother out. Furthermore they are also making united efforts in space exploration/technology/training paving the way for what one day many feel will be a profitable industry once the masses are allowed to experience space travel. They are also taking adavantage of eachothers resources ie. oil/natural gas and china..cheap labor. United they can demand better deals and use eachother as a backup customer. Ie. You pay what they tell you for gas, otherwise the chinese are more then happy to sign a contract for guaranteed gas/oil.
Unfortunately they both have different views and a history of distrust, which they will need to overcome. However since pretty soon all the die hard old socialist who were alive during the old regimes will be gone...this will pave the way for a new generation who will not automatically view eachother as a backstabbing cheating sob, thereby allowing them to come to the table with fresh ideas and genuine desire to compromise for the purpose of mutual benefits!

They are allies. China will never be subservient to Russia and vice verso. That could cause a problem.
