That's a good question...

I think that it is a natural reflex/instinct of sorts...but perhaps it is because there are times when the rain blows at you so you are running against it. Maybe the ducking is to shield the face.

I sometimes duck so I won't get my hat soaked, lol.

I could never figure this out myself. It makes you wonder do they not bathe?
My brother and I once went to an amusement park, when it really let loose. Everyone was running, and ducking to try to keep dry, although they were already soaked. My brother and I kept walking calmly to the exit. We splashed in the puddles, and danced around, just to be silly. People looked at us as if we were crazy.

Everyone knows it's a natural reaction, silly!
when some thing hit you on top of your head you just duck like because your mind is telling you to avoid it.
Anyways it take longer time to hit you
lol

I used to because of the glasses thing...keep those puppies dry at all costs. Since having Lasik done, I revel in standing upright in the rain!

They duck in the rain because they don't want to get wet...

I once came out of a store...it was pouring buckets , it was bad...
about 30 people huddled under the overhang and I thought , well , this aint letting up anytime soon , so I walked to my car.
Got soaken wet,all the way to the socks and unmentionables...got in my car and drove past the people still waiting under that overhang at walmart, spraying them with a blast of water....that was fun.lol

ask another question........ do they think that by RUNNING to get out of the rain, that they will get any less wet than if they walk calmly? I watched that show on tv that dispells rumours and they proved that in a given distance (say 25 feet) you dont stay any dryer running than you do walking.......... go figure

Einstein you one nasty dude! lol

I believe we duck because the first few drops that hit us feel cold. Once you are thoroughly soaked, you don't mind it that much.
