Hmm, hard to envision a WWIII, with all those participants. It would depend on the cause of the war. For instance, suppose China invaded Taiwan, diplomacy fails, and it does escalate: In that case I think that it would be most of the western powers versus China with Russia remaining neutral.
I think the greatest risk of war today are more localized wars with many participants, similar to the Korean war. Suppose Korea invaded south Korea, then I think the majority of nations would be against North Korea with China probably remaining neutral at this point. Now, if this war was started by a western invasion of North Korea, then China might support North Korea much like in the Korean war.
Of course, if Nuclear weapons are involved, all bets are off. It is really hard to predict what the impact of say Korea detonating a nuclear device in Tokyo would have. Chances are, the majority of the world would be against this, including China.
The greatest risk for Russia right now, I believe, is internal strife. A war including them would probably be related to a rebellion within their nation. However, if China were to invade Russia (which I doubt would happen any time in the near future), this would certainly trigger a major war. I think in that case the western world could lean either way, more likely toward the defender.

I think China and Russia along with South America would find themselves fighting the USA, and Western Europe, Japan, and South Korea, and Canada. Mexico might choose to be neutral or take the risk of losing it's South American support and go ahead and support the USA. I think the African continent would try to stay out of it and I think Australia would try to stay out of it. The Arab territories would have divided allegiances and might not break away from their own civil discord long enough to notice anyone else was at war - but if they did I think about 2/3's would support China and Russian and a 1/3 the USA and Western Europe.

Russia is strapped for cash so it would not want a war, but it would sell arms.
China is the fastest growing economy in the world so they would not want a war, but would sell arms for oil ect.
Britain will join the U.S. because Blair is shagging Bush, and we will fight anyone.
