I fell the other day and cut my wrist on a rock. It's all infected looking now. What should I do? I am keeping it clean, putting neosporin on it, and keeping it bandaged. It's still getting nastier by the day. Any suggestions?

Put hydrogen proxide on it--- if it fizzes and stings it means a) that its working and b) its REALLY infected.... after that dab it dry (around it only so the bandaid will stick)... then put neosporin on it and stick a bandage on it. then at night air it out a little before you go to bed....MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE BANDAGE EVERY DaY OR TWICE A DAY!

wash it out really good with warm water and soap. apply a thin layer of neosporin and cover with a telfa pad-these can be found at any local drug store in the first aid section-curad makes them. they are better than gauze b/c they allow the cut to breathe and won't stick to it.

you need to get into the dr to get a prescription for oral antibiotics to knock out the infection you have and also get a tetanus shot if it's been more than five years since your last one.

report to the emergency room immediately if you have any of the following symptoms:

1. you suddenly develop a fever of 101 or higher
2. you have red lines extending up your arm from the cut (this means the infection has gotten into your bloodstream and will now spread rapidly throughout your body)
3. the cut starts to drain yellowish-brown or green fluid-sign of serious infection

i wouldn't go more than another 24 hours before having it looked at.

hope i helped

As much as it hurts you should pore rubbing alchohol over the cut then place a clean bandage over it. You should also make an appointment to see your family doctor you may need a tetanus shot. Don't wait too long an infection can enter the blood stream and cause serious damage.

You attend to wounds within six hours, kills the germs trying to get in. Tetanus germs need booster TT shots every 3 - 10 years. Septic germs need care twice daily. Extension of wound infection deeper shows by gland, and fever, then the doc will give appropriate antibiotic. but it is safe to start of with ampicillin [test dose? allergy to?] and watch for 3 days. If the wound is festereing dont block the matter by like bandaids, but use open gauze cotoon dress. looking infected and nastier are the key words. move ur fingers and wrist and check for any tendons stuck.

Ok, first you really need to leave it open to air when you are just sitting around doing nothing, possibly after you have taken a bath and are relaxing for the evening. Also, take 1 ounce of clorox bleach to 4 quarts of water and use this as a soaking agent. The clorox will get rid of the bacteria that seems to be festering in the wrist. And with any open wound, call your physician.

Go to doctor! If you have been keeping it clean and put nesoporin on it and the infect didn't goes away, it mean infect is resisting it. This could be very serious thing. The longer you wait, the stronger it will get which will make it much more difficult to treat. So you should go to doctor right away!
