Trying searching using the terms "industrial safety gear". There are tons of suppliers of ear muffs etc that construction workers etc use to protect their ears from the intense noise. Short of wearing industrial strength ear muffs try normal ear muffs (will probably slide off though unlike their industrial counterpart) or high-end headphones that cover your entire ear.

Go to your local sporting goods store or section and get some soft foam earplugs. They will block out much of sharp and loud sounds, but still will let you hear the phone.

Get the headphones that cancel out the noise. They're expensive though.

Maybe some ear muffs would work?

BOSE has some noise cancelling head phones, too.
