In particular check out the 'skilled workers' link and also the section on Provincial Nomination here:-

hi... I am currently waiting for my residency and work permit. You can download the forms from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html.

The application can be made within the country if you are already in Canada but usually applies if you are married to a Canadian citizien/resident, or if you are their sibling, parent or child.

When you are applying from outside Canada, it is usually faster if you have a job offer from a Canadian company so that you get your work permit, and then apply for residency once you are in Canada.

Anyhow you will find all the answers on the website above. Good luck!! Applications can take from 6months upto a year.

It is like the US. They have an equivelant item to our green cards [not really green]You would get it through application to their immigration agency. When you get in the country go to immigration and start the process.

Check out this site to see if you qualify as a skilled worker. That will also help you to gain your immigration status.
