I heard one over thirty years ago that stuck with me. At Eureka College in Illinois, students were required to attend church on Thursday afternoons. I usually caught up on my sleep at that time or wrote my parents, but one sermon caught my "ear". The minister discussed the difference between love and lust....Every college student tunes into stuff related to sex, and I was no different. I wish my own children could hear that same lecture. It really made me think. The information has carried with me all these years. I have absolutely no idea what any of the other lectures were about, and probably didn't two days after attending them. This one was a "keeper".

The parts of the Bible most Christians are embarassed about, such as the adultry, incest, genecide. There are many confusing things about Christianity that make me not a Christian. I do have a few very open Christian freinds that i can talk to, though. One runs a Sat night worship service, and have suggested this, or challenged her, to do a service about that, but I doubt she ever will. Seems hypocritical to me. If she tells the church kids to believe the Bible, why would she be nervous to tell them about some of the naughty parts?

Patience. Acceptance of one's own flaws. Appreciation for the smaller pleasures of life. Family.

People don't go to church for heavy philosophy or even theology. People go to church for comfort. So that's what I'd want.

The benefits of attending church, how you'll achieve these benefits and how you can apply these benefits.

Then I would just inquire into the theories and put forth either faith or doubt to progress through them.

I believe you are referring to the Sermon for the day.
All I want to know is how to apply the Scriptures to my life and how can I be more like Jesus.
