Ok, can someone tell me a little about precalculus and calculus, what do people mean by "calculus and precal are the beggining of real mathematics a whole new branch of math learning and problem solving"? and also what are some really good textbooks for pre-cal? on a level from 1-10 1 low 10 high how would you rate the difficulty of theses subjects? i am a really excellent math student should i be afrai of these subjects. sorry if the questions are long but i would appreciate the help thanks and if you had thought on AP biology can you tell me? thanks!

If you're a good math student and you're pretty good at algebra, you'll probably do just fine in calculus. Check out some of the calculus books on Amazon and read the reviews. Since I really, really suck at math, I can't recommend anything, but I'm pretty sure that since you are confident of your math abilities you'll do just fine. I'm actually a bit jealous of you! Good luck!

If you did well in algebra, then pre-cal will be a breeze. In Precal you just learn in more depth about the trig functions and what they mean. You also learn identities for these functions. Memorization is the key. Textbooks would be good by Larson, but its a waste of money seriously. Save up for Calculus.

Calculus is a continuation of Pre-cal. Have all the functions and identities up to date. You learn differentiation (Once learned, it is very easy) and then the reverse operation of integration. It's hard but after a while it becomes a routine.

Pre-cal on a scale of 1-10, is a easy 2, since you are saying you are such a good student. Be committed though.
Calculus though is a average 7 or 8 for most, but if you are a good math student, then don't worry.
I don't know about AP Biology. Sorry about that!
Hope this helps.

Precalculus is a misnomer. Its really just more geomerty and more advanced algebra. Calculus is the begining of a whole new system, a system that accurately models just about everything.

If your good in math have no worries, especially if your taking these classes in high school. I took AP Calc and got a 4, with an alright teacher.

Bio on the other hand is less practice and more reading. Its all about memorization.

Hey! I'm gonna be takin Precalc and AP Biology too!
I think the dificulty factor depends on how you are able to learn things and what you think you can manage.
I'm goin to be a Junior in high school and I think these classes will be pretty hard. But then again I'm not too good at math (and I want to be an engineer!) and I'm not sure of what exactly is covered in AP Bio so I won't be able to prepare myself for what should come from the class.

Pre-calc is more difficult than calculus, because it is the beginning of a new system of math, and more graphing etc. It's not as bad as it sounds. You go in depth on math classes you've taken before and see it, or at least learn to see in a different level/way.

I haven't taken calculus but in pre-cal, you start to use all the geometry and algebraic skills you learned from previous classes in different methods to solve equations.
