Oliver Twist, Tiny Tim, Uriah Heep..there is usually at least one humble/innocent character in all his works. Most of his settings are in the Victorian era, an era in which humility(honest or not) was a social grace. The link below is to a wonderful web site with extensive information on Charles Dickens.
