Spending money on defense is not a waste unlike useless social programs. Every tax dollar spent on the military makes this country safer. Every tax dollar spent on the arts and midnight basketball is a waste. When the terrorists come I want a soldier to stop him not some flunky stoner with a paint brush. If you like art buy some. Don't tax me. If you want kids to play basketball donate to a charity that runs a league or better yet coach a team. Don't tax me. Everybody likes being safe so it should be something we spend tax dollars on.

...and that's coming from a Bob Ross fan.

As far as the tax dollars to the oil companies goes I have no explanation. Exploration is necessary but in their own self interest so they should foot the bill. They can afford it. Not everyone who is conservative fits in that box you drew.

I'm conservative. My only, repeat only, complaint about taxes is that they would be very low if fraud and cheating were eliminated. If you are watching the news lately, you will see that we had better ratchet up our defense. We have just received a warning that we are next. Re the oil industry, they are merely passing on the cost they have to pay per barrel. It is the highest now that it has ever been. It is the aim of the terrorists to cripple our economy and because we Americans all love our cars, we are making it easy for them.

Well, Halliburton, for example, one of the biggest contractor for the department of defense wouldn't be alive if it isn't for war. They employ thousands of people to fulfill their contracts. All they need is a government that is willing to create a war for them and they will cash big bucks. So, to have a war you need an enemy. If you don't have it you have to create one. Most of the conservatives own stocks in Halliburton. They want low taxes of course to keep more money in their pockets.
The oil thing is a demand thing. The demand of oil increase with war. mobilizing an army require tons of oil. When our army had all their vehicles stopped there was not that many consumption so prices were low. As soon you mobilize the army the consumption goes up and so the prices goes up too. As long as you have stocks in this companies hey screw the world let's have more war.
That's why...

Because they heavily invested in big oil, including Halliburton, the military industrial complex and the drug companies when the current administration took over. Check the stock prices of some of these companies. These same companies exercise an inordinate anoint of influence both legal and illegal. So they vote and support what benefits their portfolio.
