well, a fact is a fact. You are what you are, and you can't change that. Yes, I agree with you that what the Japanese did to China was awful horrible carnage, but, just like you can't blame the people who now live in the south (U.S.) for being slave owners, you can't blame the current Japanese people for what their ancestors did to China a long time ago. I understand your confusion though.....and it must have been quite a shock to find out, especially after the beliefs you have held all these years.

Good luck in dealing with this new information....it will take time, but you will come to terms with it eventually. Time to do some soul searching I would say.

Ah, sweet. There is no room in this world for anybody to hate any group, especially for something that was done long ago. Build a bridge and get over it. You are what you are - take a lesson from this and feel good about who you are. Did you know that Hitler found out he had some Jewish blood in him? It would be great if every person who hated another group of individuals found out they actually had that blood in their heritage. Maybe then we'd learn to love each other because after all we are more alike than different. You are still the same person you were before you "discovered" your Japanese blood.

I've got German in me and just found out about 2 years ago that my great grandfather was jewish. Thought that was pretty cool....all you can do is laugh it off and accept people for who they are. Japanese (i'm 1/4 japanese too), or any culture, can't change what ancestors did and just because they are that culture doesn't mean they agree with what the ancestors did. You just gotta move on.

Get over yourself. You can' hate an entire culture simply because of a war that was waged before you were born.
Don't propegate the hatred your grandparent's generation had for the Japanese.
Now that you know you have Japanese heritage, learn more about them.......maybe take the time to learn their version of histroy about the same war.

I think this only means it's an important time for introspection. Everything you hated or strongly disliked is turning out to be a big part of you. It sounds like this has given you a reason to self educate. Maybe you could try to see it as a blessing rather than a curse... Hate can only breed negativity. Knowledge can only bring understanding.

There is nothing wrong with the way you previously feel about the Japanese. At least you have valid reasons for your feelings. However, now it is time for you to embrace your culture and accept it as it is. Do some research. Perhaps you will disover some amazing and likable things about the culture.

This is a great irony. You have to face irony as a lion faces the mouse. Do not fear irony. Make it your ally. Look the irony in the eye and curse it three time. Spit in the face of prejudice, like a cobra spits first, then kills its prey. Then let your soul soar!

You can't hate a group of people for something bad they did.

My ancestors made the aboriginal people exinct, you have to learn to forgive what happened becausey ou arn't your ancestors. Don't keep making pointless hatred.

I don't particularly like Nazis but I am related to some people who were German Nazis way back when. It's just one of those things you can't change.
