Toshiba is the manufacturer and Satellite A105-S2141 is the model number. You can compare pricing, look at specs, read reviews and opinions here. http://www.notebookreview.com/price/default.asp?productFamilyID=702&productID=16607&display=priceDetail

"satellite" is the brands model series. There used to be Satellite Pro series a while back too, as well as another name that is eluding me at the moment, but it does not mean you have satellite or anything that another notebook might not have.

kind of like how HP has the "Pavillion", Compaq "Presario", Sony "VAIO"

Great brand, great puters, I am using one now, it's an A105-S1014, i think.. LOL, i rarely worry about it once I buy it.
It does everything I need, and has wireless built in.
as well as regular modem and ethernet.
I did find that I needed to turn off the touch pad since I do so much typing, and I kept hitting it and starting things I didn't want to.. LOL
