To track users in myspace you need to use a script that takes advantage of information stored on their computer by myspace and trust the tracker you are using. Keep in mind that not only will you know (supposedly) who is looking at you, but the tracker site will know too. I recommend against using any trackers because the sites tend to lack real credibility.

Sites are claiming to have a myspace tracker that work but all a person is asking for by downloading one is a computer virus.

It's safe to use as in it won't give you a virus or anything like that (which it's absurd to think putting a simple code on your profile ever COULD give you a virus or spyware)
But as other trackers, it is against myspace TOS
