Or don't you use birth control at all?
Have you had any bad experiences with them?

Abstinance. I decided I don't like my husband. And I got pregnant twice on the pill.

I have an IUD in and I absolutely LOVE it!! Years ago there were a lot of horror stories about them, but they've vastly improved over the years! I don't have to worry about it every day or week since it lasts 10 years! Its non hormonal so it doesnt thow my body off balance! It cost me next to nothing to get (insurance covered all but $35 for copay). I don't know any other birth control that costs $35 for 10 years!! I never ever have to think about it! The only (slight) downside was having it inserted, it was a little painful for about 24 hours and you bleed a bit, but all in all Its the best decision I have made regarding birth control!

I'm on the pill, Necon, to be precise. I tried the ortho tricyclene and it wasn't as good for me. Sometimes you have to try a couple different kinds before you find something that your body really likes. As with all drugs, it's possible that you'll have some side effects like weight gain, blood clots and depression.... although the risks are minimal. The main thing with the pill is to take it consistently...every morning or every night. The first time I took the pill, I felt nauseated for the first week or so. I always take the pill at bedtime when I take my other medicines. That's the schedule that works best for me.

I take the pill and I also had bad experiences with the Depo shot (as did another answerer). I was an emotional wreck on the Depo shot and I don't recommend it. Stick with some sort of birth control pill if you're trying to be responsible and don't want to have children just yet.

I have been on the pill. Estrostep. I had a very bad experience with Depo Provera. It is not an appropriate method if you want to have children in the future. It delays fertility for up to a year or even more after you stop it.

The pill is pretty good if you remember to take it. But, it's bad if you smoke because it can cause blood clots in that case.

Been on the birth control pill for about 12 years, love it. Can manipulate my cycle very easily. Have a few friends who tried deprovera (the shot) once and had there period for 6 mos straight. Most long trem research is done on the pill, not too much on anything else.

When I got married I was on a plethora of birth control.
First, I was on the pill, got pregnant.
Second, I was on the shot, made me gain weight and then I got pregnant.
Third, I used condoms, not religiously, and so I got pregnant.
I got married a second time and at first used condoms again (again not religiously) and it took a while to get pregnant again. I miscarried that baby :( but was able to get pregnant again for the last time. I now have 4 beautiful children and after that, I got my tubes tied.

IUD, it is great, but makes my periods a little heavier, and crampier, but is a small price to pay for 5 years of birth control with no thought.

gained 20lbs with the shot. couldnt remember the pill. the patch is looking more dangerous in studies than other methods and may have taken more lives. dont smoke while you take any, if you have cramps anywhere on your body that you dont normally, ask your doc if you should stop. abstinence is the best bc, but there are condoms and other methods as well that are less "guaranteed" to prevent pregnancy. consult an OBGYN yourself, dont listen to us for your answer.
