I'm 21 weeks pregnant, and so far, I have been able to escape the limited fashion possibilities of maternity clothes. South Australia is shocking for maternity clothes, it is very hard to find something that actually suits my style, without it blowing my budget. I don't want to spend a fortune on clothes that I am only going to wear for a few months. Most of the maternity clothes sold here, are sold in boutiques, which generally tend to be way overpriced.
My belly has, however, outgrown a lot of my tighter, figure-hugging clothes. I have replaced them with looser and larger clothes. This will also be good for after I deliver, because chances are I will have gained a bit of weight by then. It will be good, because I will have already stocked up on clothes that will fit me well, later down the track.
I always look for tops that are a a bit longer than most. If you live in Australia, Jay-Jay's is a good place to find these tops. This way, I am able to make the tops last a bit longer.
As I am not currently working, I'm home a lot during the day, so I do wear a lot of comfy clothes like trackpants, and tops that are a size too big for me. Anything I can do to get some extra comfort whilst pregnant is definetely worth it!
All that being said, I will probably have to purchase some in the coming weeks, wish me luck!
I'm going to include the link to a pregnancy forum that I think you might be interested in. It's full of supportive women with boundless knowledge about everything pregnancy and babies. I learnt so many tips and tricks there that I doubt I would have learnt otherwise.

I am 15 weeks now... am wearing some maternity stuff. Most of my regular tops still fit, but my pants are getting tight so sometimes I do the "button" trick where I use a hair elastic to loop through the button hole to give me extra room, and have also starting wearing some maternity shorts/pants.

Probably about 3 months, although you might find yourself unbuttoning a button now and then before that. Maternity clothes are so attractive now. Pregnancy is normal, no need for you to feel self-conscious.
