No 13 year old should go on a diet. Your body is still growing and going through many changes. Most girls bodies stop growing when they turn 17 or 18. I know that the magazines young girls look at, make you want to be that skinny, but its very unhealthy for you.
Instead of dieting, try to eat more fruits and vegetables and avoid fast food. The key to being fit (and I don't mean "fit" as in skinny, I mean "fit" as in healthy) is to exercise. Just dancing to your favorite music for 30 minutes a couple times a week is all that you need. You may not lose weight, but you will tone your muscles and feel happier about yourself.

At your age you shouldn't be worrying about dieting. You should be focusing on eating healthy, getting outside and moving around and playing and leading an active lifestyle. If you don't lose weight, don't sweat it. You're at a really critical stage in growing and dieting could really stunt your growth. Just move around a lot, play basketball, soccer, softball, dance, skateboard, biking... anything except playing video games on the couch. Of course, DDR is fine because you'll be moving around. Encourage your mom and/or dad to make healthy dinners for you and pack good, healthy lunches.

the easiest thing would be, like others said, to eat less and exercise more. the only problem witht that is that once you reach the desired weight you will probably continue to eat the same as before you were dieting and will gain the weight back. what i did, and it works, is to make lifestyle changes. i know it sounds like what a doctor would tell you but it actually works. try to eat healthier foods and barely any junk food, exercising more also helps. eating early is also good, whatever you eat after 7 or so goes all to fat.
good luck!

ok, i'm 13 too, but it depends on your body type and your height. if you want to "diet" just try eating healthier foods and stay away from fatty sugary foods. stay away from fast food and other junk. read labels on foods so you know what is in them. and treat yourself every once in a while. and by that i mean every month or so. not every week. and excercise. run, walk, jump rope, jog, join a school sport, thats just a few examples.
hope this helps
best wishes

the best way for teens to lose weight is to do it with a doctor's approval. until you can get to the doctor, step up your exercise by walking a half hour more every day, and step down your intake of sodapop and junk food.

Christopher, you should ask your pediatrician. Growing teenagers have different nutritional needs than adults. However, getting plenty of exercise is probably all you need. Good luck!
