coz it wants to upset all the folk they eventually want to pay for their services. nice of them to let us all no what is happening!!

The main reason is people who don't clear out their email in-box, like my daughter who has 287 emails in her in-box.
If you create and PFC (personal filing cabinet) and move all read emails into it. It stops yahoo email server from overloading hence no more shut downs.

Dont know but i have the same problem also very slow page download and missing pictures.

in answer to your question i imagine its been made redundent or fired, im sure it will be applying for state benefits soon due to its lack of work and unemployment
