im a female....and i LOVE LOVE LOVE football...for those in the united states, i LOVE LOVE LOVE soccer.

however, i cant stand the female version. during the world cup, im glued to the TV. i cant get enough....i pretty much watch every single match. i know the rules of the game enough to the point where i feel like i could do a better job than some of the refs!!!

but then the women's world cup comes around and i have no interest at all. its the same game, same rules...but i just dont feel like it has the same passion associated with men's football/soccer.

i have my favorite premiere teams that i follow too...but none of them are part of the women's premiere league.

am i just not giving the women's version a chance??

hey Lola,

I'm with you-- there's something about women's sports that just doesn't affect most of us as does mens sports!! and that "feeling" we get when we're watching mens' sports, that certain "involvement", "passion" or whatever you want to call it CANNOT be faked!! Pure and simple. sexist or not, as inexplicable as it may be, if we're truly honest with ourselves, I think most of us can say we agree with you.

I don't think it is sexist. I simply don't have the taste for women's basketball but I'll watch women perform in the other sports. It's just a personal choice. It doesn't mean that you are sexist.

For your information. American football was established before Association football. It was an Englishman (I know his last name was Brown) who wanted to call it a different name and came up with "soccer" and the world promotes it's use to this day. I don't know why my country gets blamed for this glaring misconception.

I notice that with a lot of sports like soccer but I can't stand watching men play baseball but I love to watch women's softball for some reason. That is also true with volleyball, women's always seems more intense in both of these sports than in the men's version

I think it's just because women's football isn't as big yet. But one day, it will be, then things will be different. I love football too, and of course, in the men's football the hot guys are a bonus for me, so I get even more into it.

Haha, same here. I think women's soccer is not as competitive yet. It'll take some time. There are still countries in the world where women don't play soccer. But yeah, you should IM me, we should talk about football.

no not really sexist. the boys are more aggressive and fun to watch. plenty of fouls always entertaining. the girls play a clean game that's not as fast paced more boring. Besides the guys r so cute!
