With my mouse it was a nervous reaction that started a week after her friend died. Once I got her a new friend, the problem was solved.

I had this same problem. What type of cage do you keep him in? My mouse lived in a ten-gallon and I believe that his problem was caused by allergies casued by the lack of ventalation from his glass cage. If you have him in a wire cage, take him out, wash the cage COMPLETELY, switch to a different bedding, take out and leave out any paper towel tubes etc and give him a good bath, if this doesnt help... I recommend taking him to the vet, this will cost $50+... If "he" is a female get her a friend, female mice are best kept in social enviroments. If you havent had you mouse outside or around other pets that have been and get your pet supplies from a reputable store, he/she most likely doesnt have fleas or mites.
***If you keep you mouse in a habit-trail type hamster cage with tubes and such, this may well be the problem, these cages are NOT ment for mice and all breeders will advise strongly against it.. please rethink its living space
I hope this helps..

I had an itchy mouse once and I took it to the vet. He gave him Ivermectin. It helped but he really never stopped scratching totally. Poor mouse....we thought he had mites but it was more just allergy. We even cultured the skin scrappings but found nothing.

counting at this sort of bedding you're utilising, your mouse might want to have a pores and skin allergy, or a pores and skin inflammation from the bedding. maximum places swear antagonistic to any type of timber bedding because it causes hypersensitive reactions, etc. My unique vet stated we use carefresh bedding, and we've under no circumstances had any type of difficulty.

Does it have fleas? I dunno...I would say ask the vet, but its just a mouse, do vets treat mice? You could call the vet and ask what to do.
