We ate our cake after the first year and it was still the bomb.

We kept in wrapped up tight in the freezer and we let it thaw out and then we ate it! It was still delicious. We ate it with nuts and mints, just like on our wedding day

david, congrat on your marriage , i just went through my first anniverserie and we ate our one year cake topper and we are still living the gest is even if you took one bite and threw the rest away it constitutes as eating it. we didnt have our cake profesionally froze we had a friend wrap it in cellafane and frose it for a year and when we thawed it in the refrig for a couple days my wife and i both thought it was as good as it was on our wedding day. the trick to the cake tasting good is being wrapped well before freezing and staying frozen through the year and then slow thaw in the fridge for a couple days. good luck and congrats to you and your bride

If your prepare it real good before you freeze it. I`ve known several people that saved it for longer then that and they didn`t get sick. More less it`s just a tradition.

I wrapped ours in wax paper then foil and placed it in a freezer bag then froze it. It was quite tasty on our first anniversary.
