They cry sometimes to help their lungs develop. They cry because they are over stimulated. Feed the baby, burp, bathe, hold the baby, comfort the baby. Make things as quiet and peaceful as possible. A newborn cannot and I repeat cannot be manipulative. They need what they need, they can't be spoiled so hold your child if that is what comforts him. If you are cold, he probably is too and vice versa. If that doesn't work, see if his/her stomach is soft as it should be or hard. If the baby is pulling "his" legs up and his stomach is hard, he is constipated or has gas/colic. If everything looks fine, no fever anything like that, check the baby from head to toe, make sure nothing is wrapped around a toe or anything else unexpected. If everything is fine, the baby just needs to cry. If it goes on for more than a day, go to the pediatrician. Could be lactose/iron in tolerance or illness. Every parent (moms more so it seems) sits in their living room and crys over being the worst parent in the world because they can't make the baby stop crying. Just know that sometimes they just have to cry. Momma2 obviously has seen all of this as well. You go girl!

Oh, there's a reason, but you just haven't figured out what it is. It could be that the baby needs to be burped or reburped, has a wet or dirty diaper, is hungry or wants some lovin. The baby was snuggled inside you for 9 months and misses that closeness. Pick the baby up, hold it on your right side, lift it up to your shoulder to see if it needs to burp, then bring it down and cradle it next to your heart and rock it. Maybe it needs a pacifier.

You would cry too if you were just ripped from your nice warm, safe environment and pulled into a cold, loud, harsh sterile hospital. Newborns need lots of extra love and attention to get through the tough transition from the womb.

Newborns cry for a attention, or just to cuddle , you may think that they dont know nothing but babies in this generations know alot more than you think. just talk to your newborn and watch how they listen. they also like to hear your heart beat. if the infant is a boy try placing him on your breast. Boys love breast.

They don't cry for no reason...even if you can't find the reason or don't know what it is there is still a reason! Maybe the baby has gas pains, or maybe she is itching somewhere and can't scratch, maybe she's over tired and trying to get out some frustrations...there are tons of reasons they can cry and you can't always know what they are. They don't just cry for no reason!

For a baby, there is no such thing as crying for no reason. That is the way they communicate their feelings...they cannot talk and tell you. Crying is the only communication method they know. Maybe they are hungry, sleepy, uncomfortable, have a dirty diaper. Maybe they have painful gas. There is always a reason

Sometimes it is hard to deal with newborns
They do cry alot and they need lots of attention
But they do cry for a reason, like everyone is saying gas, hungry, too dark, too light, have to poop, dirty diaper........
I think you are frustrated -but you have to understand that this baby is depending on you to take care of its every need
I found that when I got frustrated massaging and playing soothing music, like Enya or somthing relaxing can turn out to be an experience for you and your child and massaging also helps with gas-to expel it
If you feel like you are going to loose it-leave the room and re-boot your system-
remember that your baby can FEEL you feelings-when you feel mad sad or happy-and reacts to that mood
good luck with your precious newborn

If all else fails see the Dr.

Why not? I make noises sometimes for no reason. Well, I guess there's a reason. Either I'm bored or happy or sad. I guess it's a reflection of my current state of mind. Of course, I get a kick out of the little ones who have just discovered their voices. They make a lot of noise just because they can! "Listen to me make this noise! It's great!" :)

Mainly though, I guess they cry because they're either tired, hungry, scared or uncomfortable. Our job is to figure it out. If they're scared, you can't necessarily make them stop. All you can do is hold them and wait it out. Unlike the other situations, where you can actually fix the problem.
