Those two models are technically scooters, not motorcycles. I'm 42, and I feel the same as you (proving myself is not a need, nor desire), I considered a scooter, but for the same, or sometimes less money, a decent cruiser will be more comfortable. I don't know if you will take the Mrs. with you, (I told mine, if she wants to tag along, to buy a bike of her own; Hey, she's got lots more $$$ than me!), I just don't think its safe, or comfortable on longer rides. I live in Puerto Rico, and I am buying a bike for the first time in almost 25yrs! I would buy a Shadow Areo, over a Harley ANYDAY! There is no need for a similar bike costing thousands more. I am getting a small 250cc Hyosung Aquilla (made by the same guys who make Hyundai; South Korea), there's another maker from India (Kymco; they used to make Honda motors! Both have been making quality bikes for 30-plus years! They are a great starter bike, and you could get two for the price of a Burgman! I know most folks look at the kymco venox, (another 250cc bike) and think its a 500, at least.

Buy a Honda motorcycle, not an overgrown scooter. For what that Silverwing costs, you can buy a full size cruiser, which would be a lot more comfortable to ride. Take it from a 40 year old who has ridden many different bikes and now owns a Honda Shadow.

Burgman. the silverwing is a CX500 which is good but a bit old now (unless honda is reusing the name on a newer model?)
silverwing is also uncomfortable for passenger, unless your pretty short.
Ignore the guy with the Bandit, he's posting that everywhere and wont tell what he did to mess it up in the first place.

Go with the Honda! Buying any Suzuki could become a nightmare!
My brother and I bought 2 new bikes for a summer vacation. His 1200 Bandit leaked gas and ruined the motor before it got 2000 miles. We asked Suzuki to replace the motor so we could go on vacation.
It took 2 months to get a rep, then he said it’s to expensive and would cost $3000. After 4 months and the vacation gone they got the motor rebuilt at a their cost of $3700. The dealer wanted to replace the motor but Suzuki Rep squashed that.
The gas stained cases and burnt exhaust pipes were not replaced. The bike got nicked and scratched all over from being apart for 6 months. The rep rode it and looked at it, then said it’ good as new. It ran like crap and looked worse.
We called Japan, and even wrote the US CEO all for nothing. We spent $15,000 for the bikes to get ripped off by Suzuki. We spent our vacation hassling with Suzuki, and not one person there gave a damn!
Beware Suzuki’s warranty is not worth the paper it’s on! Buy one of their lemons, get shafted, we did!
I’m a 30 yr garage vet and I know when a rep and a manufacturer have ripped off a customer. This one stinks to high heaven! RUN from buying any Suzuki!

If you're trying to decide between a silver wing or a burgman, then you're not thinking about buying a motorcycle. You're looking for a big scooter.

If you want quality, Honda is the way to go.
The are made by excellent designers and high quality parts.
Honestly, if I had the cash I would go with BMW.
The are beautiful bikes, have the exotic German appeal.
Very well engineered.
Hope that helps
