Fish tanks build up a natural bacteria cycle that turns the waste ammonia into harmless nitrates. You should have gotten some type of material from where you got the tadpoles from to help start this necessary cycle (like a rock from in the pond). Regular water changes of up to 30 percent of the water with non-chlorinated water would have also helped reduce the ammonia build up to less harmfull levels. There might not have been enough water to provide them with enough oxygen or to avoid massive temperature changes.

My sister kept some tadpoles and they eventually all turned into frogs. I thought they would die for sure. But apparently the trick is using water from where you found them, like a pond or something because they live off of microorganisms. And if you did that, I'm not sure why they died.

Well, how old is your son? If he is younger he may have done something such as feeding them the wrong things. If not you may not have taken care of them correctly. I don't want you to think I am accusing I am just saying it could have happened.
Also my friend had some frogs and they apparently aren't an easy animal to take care of because his frogs died within about 2 months. I am sorry that they died.

As they turn to frogs, they lose their gills. When that happens, they need a way to stay above water. Basically, they drowned. Next time give them something to rest on that floats, or provide a ledge that rises above the water level.

i think they died because as they become frogs they loose their gills and they where probably in water so.....i think they just drown 2 death.....if he is young just say they are all taking a very long nap and wont wake up until 1,000 years or if he is older say um...........they pasted away that's all i can say
good luck! :) :)
