Its fair if you think your efforts are worth a dollar an hour! If you are getting other benefits (you can use her car, eat her food, watch her TV, etc.) it might be worth it, but if not, then you are either being taken advantage of, or you are doing it out of the goodness of your heart (i.e. she is needy and can't afford any more, and that's OK with you.)

uh no it isnt fair the average baby sitter gets 3$ hr for 1 kid and 4$ hr for 2 so that is 120$ a week so u need to tell her that the 20$ isnt gonna work for u any more bc ur parents said it doesnt pay u what the average teenager gets n that if u arent goin to get paid a fair wage then u cant do it anymore bc u should be spendin time doing teenage stuff if thats all ur gonna get for all those hrs i mean u aint even gettin 1$ an hr. if u was at a job tht paid minimuim wage ud get $165 a wk. so dont do it for under 120$ a wk and if she cant afford that then she needs to apply for assistance n stop using u. bc she is using u, im sure she goes out a few times a wk as well n if she can do that she can pay u more

No, thats only a $1 an hour. I get $30 a day to babysit for 5 hours. But it depends on how old you are i guess if you are young then i would go for it..... $$$$ is $$$$$

look at it like this... your earning 1.00 an hour. are these good kids, how old are you, do you like watching them, and does it take too much of your personal time away from your life? also another thing to consider is do you plan on continuing education in anything related with childcare and teaching... if so then you want to keep good references for the future. i dont think 30 a week is fair for 2 children though :( i would only continue to watch them if I really enjoyed it. you could work for minimum wage and make 6 somethin an hour

Unless you're not telling us some pertinent detail, that comes down to
one dollar per hour. I believe that is considerably less than the going
rate for baby sitting, even with very young baby sitters.
However, you have guarenteed revenue which most competing
babysitters don't have.
Would you rather have less hours and get more for them?
Find out what other people doing approximately the same thing make.

30 a week? Hells no, not fair. That's way less than the minimum wage. Minimum wage is $6.75! However, I do understand that she's your neighbor and that she's not an employer. I think it's a ripoff. I demand at least $100.

I dont think it is really fair. Do you provide food and diapers?? Thats out of your pocket. If she were to take them to a day care center, she'd be paying as much as $300 a week, find a nice way to approach the subject with her!

That is very cheap. Are you doing her a favor by doing this? I think the going rate is $3.00 to $5.00/hour. You are now making only $1.00 per hour. Maybe she can afford to give you a little more.

Ummm $1.00 per hour.
NO THAT IS NOT FAIR.
And you shouldn't feel uncomfortable talking to her and telling her you don't mind babysitting, but you will need more money.
She isn't uncomfortable taking advantage of you, so at least stand up for yourself.

No way! You're getting ripped off. I'd ask for a lot more than that! That's less than $1 an hour.
