I am 17 and hear that at my age I can move out. My friend said I could move in with her. I need someone to verify that I can move out at 17. That and so I can prove my dad wrong, and show if I want to move out I can.

My dad does nothing but yell at me for bullsh*t reasons. He favors my younger sis (she's 15). It seems like every month he's buying her a new pair of pants. I'm doing him a favor by not asking for a new pair of jeans every month. Everytime my sister takes something of mine w/o my permission, my dad tells me to let her use/wear it. I once baby-sat and the money I made I used to pay for a MP3 player. My sis took and used it w/o my permission and when I got mad, my dad told me to get over it.

You want to prove to your Dad what? Are you stupid or something??!!

You should be so lucky you're **** is not thrown out on the street! Do you know how many young people have parents who couldn't give a damn where their kids are? And many have kicked them out rather than work through the teen years with their kids?

Give your Dad a break! You're asking to give yourself a lot of heartache! Your Dad is trying to help you to grow up a little more..meaning..get a little more wise to the ways of the world. Don't be so selfish and disrespect your father. Tell your girlfriend to find another roommate!

And congratulations of having a Dad who loves YOU!

Your not a legal adult with adult rights until age 18. Your parents are responsible for you until 18 and there for if you move out they can report you as a run away and have you picked up.

You have a year (or probably less) to be sure of it - why not wait it out?
