I heard some crazy rich people bought a piece of the moon. But I wondered who sold it to them. Nobody owns the moon. So how can somebody sell it? Do you know anything about that?

There are two ways to do this. First, there is the Lunar Registry that allows you to stake a claim on part of the Moon if you wish, and in return you get a title deed. They use the money to fund space travel and research, and if they are successful, you will be able to claim your property, at least in theory.

Second, there are some meteorites that have come from the Moon. Giant impacts by asteroids can sometimes blast pieces of the Moon into space, and you can actually purchase a bit of lunar meteorite from some dealers.

There is also the Archimedes Registry, where you can claim any space property in the solar system, but the strength of your claim can vary.

Nobody owns the Moon. That's true. But some people own pieces of the Earth, so I guess they're transferring that rights system to the Moon.

EDIT: Oh, and nobody722 is right. I've checked the website. I think it's a fake as well. But, it's called "MoonShop", and they sell it to you for $19.95 plus $1.51 "Lunar Tax"! Plus $10.00 shipping and handling, which makes it even more ridiculous.

there was a guy on a late night talk show that calmed he owned the solar system, excluding the earth and he would sell you an acre of the moon for ~$16, but this is a fake, no one owns the moon so all he is doing is selling you a piece of paper for $16 dollars.

If there is a piece or pieces of the moon for sale then it most likely was stolen from NASA and sold on the black-market..which has been reported to have been the case in past times!

Perhaps you should read this:

Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, Including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies

Nobody has any legal right to sell any part of the Moon or any other object in space. That is to say, any such transactions are not legally binding.

Nobody owns the moon, but maybe some people can convince others that they own parts of it.

Same story with the earth.

Any conman will be happy to. How much money do you have to spend on that?
I'll sell you some for $3.00 per acre. Just tell me where on the moon you want it? The backside is only $2.50 per acre.
;-)
