I am in the process of finishing up my college education. I chose to go into early childhood education and I do not regret it one bit. Early childhood education allows you to teach grades preschool through third grade. If you would consider teaching the younger students, you must need patience because the students at that age need an understanding, caring, flexible teacher. If you have a hard time with that, I suggest going into middle childhood education which is grades four through nine. The kids are older and you have the opportunity to teach higher levels of thinking. There is also young adult education which is all the high school grades. You would need to be firm with those ages because students can walk all over you. Maybe you could look into shadowing a teacher at the various grade levels to get an idea of what grade you might like to teach.
Good luck and have fun! Teaching is a rewarding career to enter into!

You have to decide that for yourself. I know that makes things harder since they changed the licensing system. I have taught for 27 years. I spent most of it at 2nd grade and really liked them. I spent at least a year at every other grade K-6. Two years ago I moved to 5th, last year to 6th. I loved them! I have to move back to 5th because I have a knee injury and can't go up and down the stairs. If you had told me a few years ago I would be teaching 6th graders AND liking it, I would have thought you were crazy. If you really don't know, you should spend some time shadowing a teacher in the grades you think you might be interested and even the grades you don't think you would want. You might be very surprised. Each level has it's good and bad points.

This may sound weird, but I love 6th and 7th grade. After teaching at every grade level 6-12, I find them much more respectful than high school students and they actually do their work.

It really depends on you. I say there are teachers for everything. I could never teach K or 1st but I talk to K and 1st teachers and they say they'd never teach 3 or 4. I've talked to middle school teachers (6-8) who've tried to get me to move up with them and I'd never teach middle school to save my life! It depends on what you are interested in (curriculum wise) and what age group you feel comfortable with. I personally love 2 and 3. In 2 they are young enough to still love school and their teachers. They want to learn and yet they're old enough to do some activities on their own. In 3rd they are independent and yet still need you to guide them.

I would go for the 2nd grade. The kids are sharp and they still listen really well. Discipline is usually not necessary if you keep them interested in what you are teaching and if you let them get out of their seats at times to work out the kinks of young enthusiasm. Even go outside sometimes is great for their minds to expand with a new item you are launching at them.

Looking for adventure? Try Grade 7 - never a dull moment.
In our school district seventh grade is a particularly significant year, as it is the "bridge" year between the elementary (K-6) level and the secondary level.

Teaching second or third is the best if you like young children because they know how to do school. If you like to work hard and see results try kindergarten or first.
If you are passionate about a subject like math or history- then teach high school

Elementary school 3rd, because they stat to understand a lot of things but they still respect you.
High school, 11th because they start to think what they want in life and they don't want problems with the teacher or administrators.
Middle, none.
