Find a safe place to hide your money or take it to the bank, I would stop giving her my money, it is hard to give her money and then she is stealing from you.

It's very good to help your mother with the bills and food etc. Why don't you agree on a certain amount of money to give her each week and then open a savings account and when you cash your check, immediately put so much money into your account. Your money will add up. If you think you may need some of this money during the week, get one of those debit cards, then just take out what you need. It's not wise to just leave money hanging around. It is a temptation to many. Good Luck!

Try asking her why she's taking the money. She may be very limited on money and needs the extra for living expenses, life is very expensive. Or, it could be she's greedy, and likes the feel of your money in her own little hands, instead of yours. Or maybe she's trying to teach you a lesson, like, Finders, Keepers. It seems to me that you have to confront her, and ask her why she steals your money. Maybe she feels like you owe it to her, and your not paying a fair share to help out around there. Maybe you've really ticked her off at you, and she feels obligated to seek revenge. Maybe she wants a life lesson to be learned here, like if Mom can take your money without you saying a word about it, people in this world will take advantage of you, if you let them, someday , maybe you'll get up the nerve to ask her and not let others take from you, later on in life. Ask, find out why, negotiate with her for an acceptable amount to give to her, then maybe you'll both have closer ties to bind you. She is your Mom, so be careful with this question to her, ask nicely, why. If she doesn't have a good enough reason, and the negotiations don't go well, then you'll just have to put her in the trashcan, wait for trash day pick up services, and then enjoy putting your money any place you see fit.

Find a new place to put your money. A bank account is a good idea, or if you are not old enough to get one on your own, find a better hiding place for your cash.

Some ideas:

Between the pages of a book

In the toe of a pair of shoes in your closet

In the pocket of a coat in your closet

Under your computer monitor

In an envelope taped under a chair or table

Tell her if you took someone else's money, she would say you are stealing. Ask her how this is different. Open a checking account as has been suggested and tell her how much you will give her. Save all you can so you can move out. Sleep with your money under your head in a change purse and keep it on you during the day.

It depends on how old you are. If you are old enough to be out on your own, move out. If you are not old enough, put your money in the bank or invest in a nice strong safe to put your money in. Do not keep money out in the open in your room. It is her house and she can go into your room if she pleases. If she is searching through your room trying to find money, keep it out of your room or as I said before, get a safe.
